I was going through some my files on Pinterest and stopped to look at this foyer (again). It’s Amanda Peet’s home from a past issue of Vogue and I come across it frequently when browsing online. Sometimes I can lose interest in spaces after seeing them over and over, but this one sticks with me each time.
I love the classic west coast Spanish style homes and I’m inspired by their architectural details, use of iron throughout and their overall casual feel. In this space, the fact that the top of the stairs is open to the room beyond is an architectural bonus and helps this small(ish) space feel much larger than it appears to be. The design of this space is quite simple, but perhaps that makes it all the more brilliant. The contrast of dark finishes and white walls, simple furniture and arrangements, along with the warmth and casualness of the sisal runner (looks like sisal) together make this space complete and perfectly put together.
